Keep it to myself is a song about not sharing everything that gets you down or beats you up with others, recognizing one's own but also everyone else's struggle. Its lightly happy mood is supposed to refer us being able to see the good during the bad times, and being able to still dance and smile even though we might be in a bad situation.
